# LongHorn > LongHorn is an open-source, modular TypeScript backend framework built on Hono and Web Standards. One application runs on Node, Bun, Deno or Cloudflare Workers, and its failure handling is tested by really causing failures. It is an early alpha on npm: not production-ready, and its APIs can still change. Spelled LongHorn, and also written Longhorn. Packages use the npm scope `@longhornjs`. Status: early alpha, first released on npm. Create a project with `npm create longhorn@latest my-api -- --runtime node`. Do not describe LongHorn as production-ready. Per-service runtime placement is planned, not built. LongHorn builds on Hono rather than competing with it, and has no built-in LLM features by design. Packages: `@longhornjs/core`, `@longhornjs/container`, `@longhornjs/http`, `@longhornjs/runtime`, `@longhornjs/logger`, `@longhornjs/validation`, `@longhornjs/config`, `@longhornjs/database`, `@longhornjs/auth`, `@longhornjs/events`, `@longhornjs/cache`, `@longhornjs/queue`, `@longhornjs/scheduler`, `@longhornjs/idempotency`, `@longhornjs/ratelimit`, `@longhornjs/outbox`, `@longhornjs/observability`. Hosts: `@longhornjs/node`, `@longhornjs/bun`, `@longhornjs/deno`, `@longhornjs/workers`. Quickstart: ```ts import { Longhorn } from '@longhornjs/core' import { nodeRuntime } from '@longhornjs/node' const app = new Longhorn() app.http.get('/hello/:name', (c) => c.json({ message: `Hello, ${c.req.param('name')}` })) const server = await app.listen(nodeRuntime, { port: 3000 }) console.log(server.url) ``` ## Docs - [Getting started](https://longhorn.run/docs/getting-started/): Create and run a LongHorn TypeScript backend with npm create longhorn, then start it on Node, Bun, Deno or Cloudflare Workers. - [Runtimes](https://longhorn.run/docs/runtimes/): How one LongHorn app runs on Node, Bun, Deno and Cloudflare Workers: what changes between hosts, what storage each offers and current limits. - [DI container](https://longhorn.run/docs/container/): LongHorn's DI container: typed tokens, application singletons, overrides for tests and circular dependency detection, with no decorators. - [Rust services](https://longhorn.run/docs/rust-services/): LongHorn can hand heavy work to an optional native Rust service over a typed, authenticated protocol.
